Someone or something needs to be saved
Someone is willing and able to save them

Characteristics of the ‘lost’ person
Has had his mind blinded by the god of this world
Is living in the “domain of darkness”
Ensnared by the devil and unable to think straight (come to their senses).
Held captive by devil to do the enemy’s will and desires.
A “a child of the devil”. Proven by their sinful lifestyle.

Always by blood

The Father – designed the plan in eternity past. Involves:
Foreknowledge
Predestination
Calling
The Son – discharged plan at the proper time. Involves:
Christ being the second federal head of humanity
Christ becoming flesh and bone
Christ dying for the sins of the world
Christ receiving the nations, all power and authority
The Holy Spirit – declares the plan daily. Involves:
Bringing forth fruit
Bringing forth conviction
Regeneration
Sanctification
Conversion
refers to two-fold turning of the individual. It requires repentance (turning from) and faith (turning to).

Substitution
The act whereby Jesus offered himself on our behalf
Vicarious Atonement
Vicarious means “acting or done for another.” Atonement means “reparation for an offense or injury.
Reconciliation
making or accepting peace with God. From a relationship of enmity to one of friendship.
Propitiation
Christ’s death fully satisfied all the righteous demands of God toward the sinner.
Forgiveness
indicates a setting back or putting away

Redemption
to pay a random price for something or someone
Regeneration
the process by which God, through the second/new birth gives the believer a new nature
Imputation
an accounting term referring to adding or subtracting from an account
Three main imputations
Adam’s sin upon mankind

God’s righteousness upon believer
Adoption
means “placing of a son.”
Justification
the legal act where man’s status before God is changed for the good
Sanctification
means to be “set apart” from evil and sin and for good works
Three aspects of sanctification
Positional – our standing before God.
Experiential – varies according to daily life and experience, grows as the believer dedicates his life to God.
Ultimate – in the future anticipates final transformation of the believer into the likeness of Christ.
Glorification
refers to the final and absolute physical, mental, and spiritual perfection of all believers.
