-early introduction, more than britain- diet monotonous but 2/5 germans more healthy. meat and dairy limited

1940 Hamburg- 70 raids on the city, next 2 years 137. First bomber raid 30th May 1942 killed nearly 500 people, 1350,000 residents fled, 12,500 buildings were damaged

-Central Planning Board established April 1942 , speer introduced 3 policies:

2) employing women in armament factories
3) ending conscription of skilled workers

-opposition in army. winter 1942/3 and Kreisau Circle was formed- significant opposition because members were influential

-July Bomb Plot attempt to assassinate Hitler, he used it to arrest 7000 opponents, nearly 5000 killed
