It gives the plot a theme of suspense, wondering who Boo Radley truly is at the beginning of the book. It develops the theme once he puts a blanket around Scout, and finally appears at the end of the book. It only empathizes not to be prejudiced to others because of how they act or look.

Atticus says that there’s a ‘holdout’ juror. Which he is right, there is a Cunningham who thought Tom was innocent. But this all means that Atticus’s speech had such a big impact on the jury, they had to rethink their choices.

It’s dark outside, so people do not have a chance to see Boo Radley out there. The living room is bright. Atticus wanted to give Boo privacy.
