A group is a vertical column in which elements on the periodic table are organised because of their reactivity and similar properties
period
A period is a row on the periodic table that all have the same number of electron shells/rings but different amounts of electrons
molecule
A group of two or more different atoms bonded together chemically, same of different element
Lattice
A giant repeating 3D structure of atoms strongly bonded together
element
A pure substance made up of only one kind of atom and share the same number of protons in the nucleus
metal
A metal is an element that has shiny/lustrous, usually solid, bendable, high boiling points, ductile and malleable properties and only come in solids

A substance made up of two or more different elements chemically combined together bonded in fixed ratios. H2O, CO2, NH3

the same element bonded together O2, N2, Cl2
Molecule compounds
Different elements bonded together H2O, CO2, NH3
Colloid
A mixture where tiny particles are evenly dispersed but not fully dissolved e.g milk, gelatin and fog
Alloys
mixtures of metals or metal and non metal e.g steel, brass and bronze
Heterogeneous mixture
Not uniform throughout the mixture, can see different parts, not evenly mixed, can be seperated e.g oil and water, cereal in milk, sand and water, salad
Homogeneous mixture
Uniform throughout, same throughout, evenly mixed, cannot see different parts, cannot be seperated e.g salt and water, sugar dissolved in water, air, lemondade fully mixed
Mass number
Protons and neutrons combined to make the mass of a number, bottom number
Atomic mass
Total number of protons- same as electrons, in a element, top number
Proton
Positive charge, in the nucleus
Neutron
neutral charge, in the nucleus
Electron
negative charge, orbiting the nucleus, spread out throughout the electron shell

Body of the element

Where electrons are places, outside the nucleus, protects that nucleus and how periods are organised
Atoms
Atoms are the building blocks of life, they cannot be destroyed or created or divided. Atoms can combine to created new compounds. Atoms of the same element are all the same. Different elements have different masses.
