Despite the Northern, Middle, and Southern colonies all being of British descent they all have similarities and differences.

There were distinct groups that settled in the North and in the Middle colonies but not in the South.

The South came to the New World for economic reasons, unlike the Southern colonies, the Northern Puritans settled for religious issues.

The south relid on cash crops like tobacco for their economy however, the Puritans did not rely on cash crops for their economy.

If farmers didn’t have slaves then they had indentured servants, where poor people would sell themselves to work for 4-7 years then they could be free.

But farmers would make it hard to live to the end of the indenture.

He wrote a letter to his parents begging them to buy him back due to the harsh living conditions.

If you were a Christian in the South then you could not be a slave but this changed due to the Virginia Slave Statutes, which described being allowed to have Christian slaves.
