What are amines?

• Organic compounds derived from ammonia, containing an NH₃ group

• One of more hydrogens replaced with alkyl or aryl groups

How are amines named?

• They are named using the suffix -amine

• If the amine is not the priority group, the prefix -amino is used 

• If two different alkyl or aryl groups are present, they are sorted alphabetically
