Information Processing Model
A framework to understand how the brain processes information, including encoding, storage, and retrieval.
Recency Effect
The tendency to recall the last few items in a list better than those in the middle.
Primacy Effect
The improved recall of the first items in a list, influenced by elaborative rehearsal.
Short-Term Memory
The part of memory that temporarily holds information for about 30 seconds.
Chunking
A memory strategy that involves breaking down information into smaller, manageable units.
Metamemory
Knowledge about one's own memory capabilities; understanding how memory works.
Metacognition

Production Deficiency
A situation where a child does not spontaneously use effective memory strategies.
Spontaneous rehearsal style
A passive rehearsal method used by younger children, repeating items one at a time.
