What are some rules about what the narrator is and isnt supposed to do based on her illness? Give two specific examples
She is supposed rest and avoid working. Her husband tells her not to write even though it makes her feel better. She is not supposed to exercise or visit people a lot. She is expected to stay in the room and rest.
“sometimes I think there are a great many behind, and sometimes only one, and she crawls around fast, and her crawling shakes it all over” what is the narrator talking about in this sentence?
She is talking about her a women trapped behind the wallpaper. When the story continues the narrator believes the woman is crawling around behind the wallpaper trying to escape.The women represents the narrator herself bc she also feels trapped by her husband and the rules placed on her.
What happens at the end of the story?
The narrator tears the wallpaper off the walls because she believes she is freeing and the woman trapped behind it. She starts crawling around the room herself and believes she became the women from the wallpaper. When her husband comes in he faints and she crawled all over him saying shes free
How does the narrators attitude about her condition, about her husband and about the wallpaper change as the story progresses?
She accepts that she is sick but believes that her treatment is making her worse. At first she loves her husband and trusts him but becomes angry bc he controls her and doesn’t listen to her

The author shows that women were often controlled and not allowed to make their own choices. The narrator was told what to do by her husband and isn’t taken seriously. This connects to Much madness is divenst scene because Emily suggests that society can call someone mad cause they dont follow what society wants them to do
