What is the Bible?

It reveals God's will and plan for humankind.

What is Jesus?
Jesus is the Messiah, and fulfillment of God's promises in the OT
What are the Psalms and how are they recited?
The Psalms are the expressions of the prayers, hopes, joys, and sorrows of the Israelite people. They are recited through two groups singing back and forth in response to each other.
Ascension
The entry of Jesus humanity into divine glory to be at the right hand of the father; traditionally, this occurred 40 days after Jesus's resurrection.
Charity (love)
One of the three theological virtues by which we give our love to God for his own sake and our love to our neighbor on account for our love of God.
Church
This term refers to the whole catholic community of believers throughout the world.
Covenant
a solemn agreement made between human beings or between God and a human being involving mutual commitments or guarantees.
Grace
comes from the Latin word gratia, which means free. Grace is the free and underserved gift that God gives us to respond to our vocation to become his adopted children.
Great Commandment
To love God with our whole heart, soul, and mind and to love others as ourselves because of our love for God.

Another name for the ancient israelites and the Jews.
Jesus
Hebrew name that means God Saves.
Jesus Christ
The Incarnate Son of God who became one of us in ll ways except sin without giving up his divinity. He is the true God and true man.
Kingdom of God
The actualization of God's will for human beings proclaimed by Jesus christ as a community of justice, peace, mercy, and love, the seed of which is the Church on earth, and the fulfillment of which is eternity.
Law of Love
The heart of God's law revealed in Leviticus 19:18 and Deuteronomy 6:4-5 that was fulfilled in Jesus Christ and expressed in his teaching on the New Commandment in John 13:34-35.
Messiah
a Hebrew word meaning "anointed"
New Commandment
The commandment Jesus gave to his disciples at the Last Supper summarizing the manner of living and acting that Jesus taught.
New Covenant
The covenant or law established by God in Jesus Christ to fulfill and perfect the Old Covenant. It is a perfection here on earth of the Divine Law. The law of the New Covenant is called a law of love, grace, and freedom.
New Testament
The designation for the second part of the Bible, which contains the four accounts of the Gospel, the Acts of the Apostles, Letters or Epistles, and the Book of Revelation
People of God
The biblical name given to those called by God to announce and bring about the divine plan of salvation.
Prophets
One sent by God to form the people of the Old Covenant in the hope of salvation
Resurrection
the triumph of Jesus over death on the third day after his crucifixion.
Word of God
The entire content of Revelation as contained in the Holy Bible and proclaimed in the Church.
