revolutionary period

1763-1781 | 13 colonies struggle for independence from the British & win the revolutionary war (1775-1781) [ George Washington, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Nathanael Greene, Paul Revere]

Constitutional Period

1776-1791 13 colonies argue abt government that would be set into place in the u.s. constitution (1787) and bill of rights (1780) are added [ James Madison, George Washington, Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton]

Federal Period

1790-1800 | Bill of rights and constitution get tried out by presidents Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton disagree on rulings and form political parties.

Industrial Revolution

1790-1900s | radical change in production, began in England ( man made to machines) industrial rev began in ri, spread throughout New England and into the rest of the us.

Manifest Destiny & Indian removal

1840-1853 | expansion into the us that was prearranged by heaven & justified by God. aggresive approaches and the spread of culture. texas claims independence, Mexican war and Oregon trail migrations.

U.S. civil war

1861-1865 | southern states try to break away from the rest of the U.S. north & south disagreed about slavery, state rights, tariffs, social inequities and economic

1865-1877 | rebuilding the entire us post civil war. socially by maintaining unity of the u.s
