What is the Muscle Grade 5?
Completes full range of motion against gravity, and holds test position against maximum resistance.
What is Muscle Grade 4?
Completes full range of motion against gravity, and holds test position against moderate resistance.
What is Muscle Grade 3?
Completes full range of motion against gravity, and holds test position with no resistance.
What is Muscle Grade 2?
Completes partial range of motion against gravity, and moves through complete range of motion with gravity eliminated.
What is Muscle Grade 1?
No visible movement of the muscle, but examiner may observe or palpate contractile activity in the muscle
What is Muscle Grade 0?
No palpable or visible muscle contraction.
What is Normal Functional Balance Key?
Able to maintain balance without support; accepts maximal challenge; can weight shift in all directions
What is Good functional balance key?
Able to maintain balance without support; accepts moderate challenge; can weight shift, although limitations evident
What is Fair functional Balance Key?
Able to maintain balance without support; cannot tolerate challenge; cannot maintain balance while shifting weight
What is Poor Functional Balance Key?
Requires assistance/support to maintain balance
What is Absent Functional Balance Key?
Cannot assume or maintain posture
