WHAT CONDITION IS THIS
● Tick-borne illness (Borrelia burdorferi)
● Three stages:
Early infection
local erythematous lesion (erythema migrans)
disseminated infection
Cranial mononeuropathies facial nerve)
finally late-stage infection
Distal symmetrical neuropathy
stocking glove distribution of paresthesia and sensory loss
Other presentation:
○ mononeuropathies, acute polyradiculoneuropathy, and asymmetrical distal neuropathies
● Meningitis MC neurologic abnormality
● Improvement in acute neurologic symptoms is fairly good. Antibiotics Treatment:
● Lyme disease with neuro involvement - IV ceftriaxone for 2-4 weeks
