In what ways do Americans influence the development, goals, and implementation of public policy?
They influence public policy through their ideologies! It’s their ranging values, attitudes, and beliefs!
What is majoritarian policy making?
It’s a political process where policies are determined by largely identified issues in the population, such as abortion.
How do interest groups influence policy-making?
They might fund candidates who support their agendas or push for specific areas of policy-reform to satisfy their members.
What is an agenda (political one)?
It’s a list of potential polocy ideas, bills, or plans to improve society.
Example: New methods of law enforcement, alterations of the tax system
What do people consider when a new policy is proposed?
People will consider the cost-benefit analysis, which is a full look into the benefits and sacrifies that would come with its’ implementation.
What’s the process for an issue actually gaining attention then recieving a policy/resolution to it?
First, the issue gains attention by the public (like the push to ban smoking). Then, the government will investigate the issue and will hear experts to testify. Finally, the government formulates policies on paper and considers the cost-benefit analysis.
