Population

complete collection of all measurements or data that are being considered.

Parameter

a numerical measurement describing some characteristic of the population. Ex) surveying senior parameter is senior all in the U.S.

Statistic

Numerical Measurement describing some characteristic of a sample. Ex) survey 1659 seniors out of all US senior, the stat is 1659 surveyed.

Interval

involves data that can be arranged in order, and the differences between data values can be found and are meaningful. However, there is no natural zero starting point at which none of the quantity is present.

Nominal

characterized by data that consist of names, labels or categories only. The data cannot be arranged in some order. Ex) yes or no question a d undecided

Ordinal

involves data that can be arranged in some order, but difference (obtained by subtraction) between data values either cannot be determined or are meaningless.

Ratio

data can be arranged in order, difference can be found and are meaningful, and there is a natural zero starting point ( where zero indicates that none of the quantity is present). Differences and ratios are both meaningful.

quantitive

refers to data that can be expressed numerically and subjected to mathematical operations, allowing for meaningful calculations of differences and averages.

qualitative

refers to data that describes characteristics or qualities and cannot be expressed numerically. It is often used to categorize or label attributes.
