-Breakdown of muscle protein

-prblm is tht it produces myoglobinuria: urinary elimination of the muscle protein myoglobin. starts to affect renal sys (kidneys) clogging up the tubules.

-CAN LEAD TO ACUTE RENAL FAILURE AND EVEN DEATH

-early=reversible with discontinuation

-immediately report signs of toxicity (muscle soreness or changes in urine color)
