Consumer - Gets energy by eating other organisms like producers or other consumers (Rabbit).
Decomposer - Gets energy by breaking down dead material (Fungi).
What are the stages of a food chain?
Producer → Primary Consumer → Secondary Consumer → Apex Predator → Decomposer
Each stage is a different trophic level.
What is a food web?
Similar to a food chain, it overlaps different chains to form a web.
What is the nutrient cycle?
This shows how nutrients move through an ecosystem, and how they enter and exit the cycle.
What is Epping Forest?
Located on the outskirts of London
Temperate deciduous forest - Small scale ecosystem
Around 2,500 hectares
Currently maintained to preserve biodiversity due to its complex food web
What factors affect the location of biomes/global ecosystem?
Climates
Altitude
Rainfall
Ocean
