Neurons
Individual cells that receive, integrate, and transmit information.
How much does an adult brain weigh?
About 3 pounds
Classes of neurons
Afferent (sensory), Efferent (motor), and interneurons.
Afferent (Sensory Neurons)
Carry information FROM the sense receptors to the brain and spinal cord.
Efferent (Motor Neurons)
Carry information FROM the brain and spinal cord TO the muscles/glands.
Interneurons
Relay information b/w the sensory and motor neurons.
Reflex Arc
Neural circuit involved in a reflex.
Sensory neurons conduct a nerve impulse from a receptor.
Connects via interneurons, which goes to a motor neuron.
