Head of humerus
A rounded part at the proximal end of the humerus that fits into the shallow glenoid cavity of the scapula.
Anatomical neck
A slight constriction of the humerus located immediately inferior to the head.
Intertubercular sulcus
A groove that separates the greater tubercle and lesser tubercle of the humerus.
Greater tubercle and Lesser tubercle
Bony projections on the humerus located anterolateral to the head that serve as sites of muscle attachment.
Surgical neck
The most frequently fractured part of the humerus, located just distal to the tubercles.
Deltoid tuberosity
A roughened area in the midpoint of the humeral shaft where the large, fleshy deltoid muscle of the shoulder attaches.
Radial groove
A groove running obliquely down the posterior aspect of the humeral shaft that marks the course of the radial nerve.
Trochlear notch
The deep notch on the proximal end of the ulna that articulates with the trochlea of the humerus.
Olecranon
The prominent bony part of the proximal ulna that forms the point of the elbow.
Coronoid process
A projection on the anterior portion of the proximal ulna, helping to form the trochlear notch.
Radial tuberosity
A process on the proximal end of the radius located just below the neck.
Interosseous membrane
A flexible membrane that connects the radius and ulna along their entire length.
Radial styloid process
The pointed projection at the distal end of the radius.
Ulnar styloid process
The pointed projection at the distal end of the ulna.
Trochlea
The pulley-shaped medial articular process of the distal humerus.
Capitulum
The rounded lateral articular process of the distal humerus.
Coronoid fossa
A depression on the anterior surface of the humerus above the trochlea.
Olecranon fossa
A large depression on the posterior surface of the distal humerus.
Radial fossa
A small depression on the anterior surface of the humerus above the capitulum.
