Atrophy

Non-weight bearing (NWB)
A level of ambulation where the person does not put weight on their legs.

A fracture where bone protrudes through the skin.

A skin infection with fluid-filled vesicles and honey-colored crusts.
Orthopedist
A doctor who specializes in bone and joint injuries.
Physician clearance
A doctor's approval necessary for an athlete to return to play after a concussion.
Sympathy
Understanding what someone else is feeling.
Empathy
Awareness of sensitive thoughts and feelings.
OSHA
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which oversees workplace safety.
Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
Document that explains hazards of a chemical product.
Oxygenated blood
Blood that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body.
Handwashing
Most important way to prevent disease.
Wash hands
First step after removing gloves.
Gauze
Best material to use in order to stop bleeding.
Daily percentage of carbohydrates
Recommended range is 45-65% of total daily caloric intake.
7-8 hours
Recommended amount of sleep needed per night for adults.
Gastritis
Inflammation of the stomach.
Nephro
Prefix meaning 'kidney'.
Endocrinologist
Specialist who treats diabetes.
Goniometer
Tool that measures range of motion (ROM).
Dynamometer
Tool that measures strength.
Clear urine
Indicates that a person is well-hydrated.

Condition of rapid breathing.
