You are Maud Elizabeth Gage, you are one of the fist women to have ever attend Cornell university. Has this Frank Baum even finished High School?

Well not technically but…

2
New cards

You could be a doctor or a lawyer Maud!

I know but…

In my day a woman could have only dreamed of achieving such heights, what I wouldn’t have given to attend medical school. And now here is my own daughter, throwing it all away for some actor.

Please Just listen to me!

4
New cards

No you listen to me! If this Frank Character is an actor than he is nothing but an impractical dream. He will never be able to support a family.

I fell in love with his mind not his wallet.

You have so many suitors Maud, pick one, pick anyone. Just not this one.

But I love him mother, hes brought color into my world.

Color…Ridiculous, I suppose it’s my own fault really. I raised you a woman could do anything she wanted, be anything she wanted. So you went ahead and decided you wanted to be an actors wife…the irony.

You’re right, you raised me to think for myself, but now that Im doing soemthing you don’t like you want me to be meek and obedient.

I don’t want you to be meek and obedient, I just want you to forget the actor!

He’s not just any old actor mother, hes a wonderful actor. He’s a wizard on stage you should see him, he did a performance of the play Matches in Richnburg last week and he was absolute brilliant.

Thats your opinion

Did you see today paper? The reprinted a theatre review from last months oil echo, they called Franks performance a triumph. “Mr. Baum is to be congratulated. He has a fine presence, a handsome countenance, and an ease and grace with his stage movements. He has shown himself a complete master of his role.” What do you have to say to that?
