timolol - beta blockers
-use: glaucoma
-action: lower IOP by decreasing production of aqueous humor, used primarily for open-angle glaucoma
-SE: local-eye irritation, systematic (bradycardia, bronchospasm)
latanoprost (xalantan)
-use: prostaglandin analogs ( first-line, once-daily eye drops to treat open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension by reducing intraocular pressure)
-action: lowers IOP by facilitat9ing aqueous humor outflow
-SE: can cause harmless brown pigmentation of iris
isotretinoin (Accutane)
-use: can produce complete and prolongs remission of acne
-SE: dryness, inflammation, teratogenic (malformations of embryo), triglycerides lvls monitored
-*: hormonal agent, oral contraceptives, spironolactone
ofloxacin otic-otitis media or externa
-use: perforated tympanic membrane (not ototoxic)
-action: broad-spectrum antimicrobial - bactericidal effect
-binds to an inhib bacterial enzymes
-inhib effects interrupt DNA replication, transcription, and repair, thereby, prevents cells division in bacterial cells
