What Happens in Menstruation?
the Endometrium is shed through the vagina as a liquid containing mostly blood and tissue. AKA your period.

What happens in the follicular phase?
the follicle in the ovary begins to develop a mature egg, and the lining thickens.
What happens to hormones in the Follicular phase?
Estrogen rises.
What does the body prepare for in the follicular phase?
Ovulation.
How long does the follicular phase last?
8 days.
What happens in Ovulation?
The ovary releases one mature egg.
What is Ovulation Triggered By?
A spike in the luteinizing hormone.
When is a woman most likely to become pregnant?
In the ovulation stage.
How long does Ovulation last?
24 hours.
What happens in the Luteal phase?
The mature egg travels down the fallopian tube and the Endometrium thickens.
What happens if an egg isn’t fertilised?
The Endometrium breaks down and Menstruation begins.
How long does the Luteal phase last for?
14 days.
