Ebeneezer Scrooge
What was Scrooge like?
He was a protagonist who initially dismissed Christmas. After being forced to transform he became a symbol of Christmas spirit in stave 5
What were the cratchits like?
Bob is Scrooges loyal employee. His family are a symbol of poverty, cheerfulness and Christmas spirit. Bob feels pity for scrooge and provides a contrast to Scrooges isolation
What was Fred like?
The character of Fred serves as another contrast to Scrooge. He is about Christmas spirit and good will and always refused to be discourages by his uncles misery
What do the ghosts do?
They were antagonists to Scrooge. The force him to view his selfish and greedy ways and shown how his behaviour wil lead to a lonely death

Scrooge. This emphasises Scrooges lack of empathy and his harsh attitude towards other people- this is what Scrooge is like at the start
What does “as solitary as an oyster” represent
It represents how Scrooge is hard and loses off but there may be something good inside like the pearl
Who says “Are there no prisons, are there no workhouses”
Scrooge says that when talking about the poor. He believes the poor should be in prison and they deserve to be.
“The boy is ignorance. The girl is want.”
The ghost (Christmas present) warns Scrooge of all of mankind’s faults

Jacob Marley says it as it is a warning for Scrooge as it is Marley punishment for his greed
“An idol has displaced me… a golden one”
Belle says this to Scrooge pointing out how Scrooge has replaced lobe with money and showing how greed costs Scrooge relationships
