Superegulatory prayers
Also known as voluntary prayers, which are encouraged and can supplement obligatory prayers.
Routine prayers
Specific recommended prayers such as 2 before Fajr, 2 or 4 before Dhuhr, 2 after Dhuhr, 2 after Maghrib, and 2 after Isha.
Witr prayer
Prayed after Isha, minimum of 1 rakah, better to pray 3, maximum is 11 rakahs.
Taraweeh prayer
Congregational prayer during Ramadan; majority opinion suggests 20 rakahs.
Eclipse prayer (Khusuf)
Recommended to pray in congregation during an eclipse, characterized by prolonged bowing and prostration.
Prostration of recital
Prostrations performed upon reciting certain verses of the Quran, with a total of 14 prescribed prostrations.
Times of prayer prohibition
Specific times when voluntary prayers are prohibited, including after mandatory prayers, at sunrise, and at noon.
Exception to prohibited times
Situations like funeral prayers or repeating congregational prayers allow certain prayers during prohibited times.
Imamat (leading prayer)
Criteria for who can lead the prayer; considerations include knowledge, recitation ability, and age.
Catching the prayer
To catch the prayer with the congregation, one must catch the second bowing; failing this requires praying alone.
