Dark reaction
Also known as Blackman's reaction, this is the biosynthetic phase of photosynthesis where light is not directly required for the reactions.
Blackman's reaction
An alternative name for the dark reaction or biosynthetic phase of photosynthesis.
Stroma
The specific site within the chloroplast where the dark reaction occurs and where all necessary enzymes are present.
Biosynthetic phase
The stage of photosynthesis occurring in the stroma that uses the products of the light reaction (ATP and NADPH) to perform reactions.
ATP and NADPH
The products of the light reaction that are utilized during the dark reaction.
Presence of Light in Dark Reaction
The dark reaction takes place in the presence of light because it depends on the immediate products of the light reaction, which are ATP and NADPH.
