Potential Energy
Stored energy types: chemical, nuclear, electrical, gravitational.

Chemical Energy
Energy stored in atoms and molecules (e.g., coal, gas) released as heat and light when burned.

Nuclear Energy
Energy stored in the nucleus of an atom (e.g., sun/solar, atomic bomb).

Electrical Energy
Produced when charged particles move (e.g., batteries, lightning, wind turbine).

Gravitational Energy
Energy from all objects; greater in bigger objects (e.g., bird, tree branch).

Kinetic Energy
Energy of motion (radiant, thermal, and sound energy).

Radiant Energy
Travels in electromagnetic waves like x-rays and sunlight.

Thermal Energy
Vibration of atoms causing heat.

Sound Energy
Uses waves/vibrations in particles through mediums like air, water, or wood.

Energy Transformation
Occurs when energy changes from one form to another (e.g., wind to electrical, steam to electrical, sunlight to electrical energy).

All mechanical energy is divided into:
potential and kinetic energy

When a ball rolls downhill, potential energy is converted to:
kinetic energy

When a ball rolls downhill, some energy turns into(not kinetic):
friction, thermal, and sound energies

What occurs when energy changes from one form to another?
Energy transformation

Steam changing to electrical, or sunlight turning into electrical is called
energy transformation
