Hunc postquam sparsit Lethaei gramine suci

After he had sprinkled the dragon with the herb containing the juice of Lethe

Verbaque ter dixit placidos facientia somnos

And he had said the words three times which cause peaceful sleep

Which halt the churned up sea

Quae concita flumina sistunt

Which halt the stirred-up rivers

Somnus in ignotos oculos sibi venit

Sleep came upon his unknowing eyes
