Species
A group of organisms that can interbreed to produce fertile viable offspring.
Population
A group of organisms of the same species, living in the same area at the same time.
Species richness
The number of different species in a given area.
Species evenness/relative abundance
The number of individuals of each species in a community.
Diversity Index
A measurement of biodiversity of a given community.
Biodiversity
The species richness and evenness of a community.
Biological community
The interacting species in a location.
Total abundance
The total number of individuals found in a community.
Larvae
Young that are different from adults.
Plankton
Organisms that cannot swim but 'float' around in water.
Shannon Diversity Index
A calculation that summarizes diversity of a community.
T-test
A statistical test to determine if there is a significant difference between each location.
