what are limitations of this theory

assumes life is linear with a smooth progression even though many people change careers, go back to school and restart the cycle. age ranges aren’t universal and not everyone hits these stages at these ages as there are delays, gap years, and etc. its also not really reflective of the current days work force which involves more job hopping, gig work, and multiple career paths. also structural barriers are ignored as some people cannot afford such a linear path and end up in between jobs.
