Chi-Squared Analysis
A statistical test used to determine if the patterns in categorical data are meaningful.
Autocorrelation
The correlation of a time series with its own past values.
Data Smoothing
A technique to remove random noise and reveal the underlying signal or trend.
Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) Analysis
A statistical test that compares the shapes of two datasets to see if they follow the same distribution.
Type I Error
A false positive error, indicating a result was found when there actually is none.
Type II Error
A false negative error, indicating a result was missed that is actually present.
Statistical Power
The probability of correctly rejecting the null hypothesis when it is false, avoiding a Type II error.
Healthy User Bias
A sampling bias where volunteers in a study tend to be healthier than the general population.
Complex Adaptive System
A system where parts learn, adapt, and change their behavior based on interactions.
Coutu’s Resilience Pillars
Three key concepts for resilience: Facing reality, Finding meaning, Ritualized ingenuity.
