Simple random Sampling
Each member of the population has the same chance of being selected, as the selection is completely random.
Stratified sampling
Where a population is divided due to clear characteristics and samples are taken from these varied groups (sometimes to include minorities).
Cluster Sampling
Members of a population are assigned to only one group or cluster. Then, samples of clusters are chosen using random sampled clusters and individuals are surveyed inside these clusters. No causes for bias are permitted.
Systematic random sampling
Randomly choose a starting place, then choose every nth item (eg 19th item) until you have a complete sample list of data.
Convenience sample
Made up of easy to reach individuals
Self selected samples
People who self select into the survey
