When he confirmed that he would remove the name of Sextus Roscius from the proscription lists

Praedia vacua filio traditurum

[and] would hand over the unoccupied estates to his son

Cumque id ita futurum T. Roscius Capito qui in decem legatis erat

And when Titus Roscius Capito, who was among the ten delegates

Adpromitteret, crediderunt

Promised in addition that this would happen in this way, they believed him

Ameriam re inorota reverterunt

They returned to Ameria without arguing their case

Ac primo rem differre cotidie ac procrastinare isti coeperunt

And at first those men began to put off the matter every day and to procrastinate

Then [they began] considerably less concerned to do nothing and to deceive

Postremo id quod facile intellectum est

[they began] to prepare a plot against the life of Sextus Roscius

And to think that they were not able any longer

Alienam pecuniam domino incolumi obtinere

To retain possession of another man’s money with the master unharmed
