Subjective viewpoint
Requires you to see the personal aspects of the
artwork. It focuses on your impressions on the artwork, the emotional
impact it has on you, what you feel looking at the artwork, how it
resonates with you, and what the artwork is about in your perspective.
Structural viewpoint
Is about the physical aspects of the artwork like:
What style period or art movement (Visit glossary page for more info)
The materials and processes used
What formal conventions are used (Perspective, tone)
Any use of symbols or signs?
How does the light convey a message
The use of shape, colour, texture, tone, space, composition & focal
point.
Cultural viewpoint
Focuses on the world it is painting, like what it is
telling you, how the image reflects the ideas on current society, if it is an
objective or subjective picture of the world, and if any cultural heritage
that the artist has/had influenced the artwork in anyway.
Contemporary viewpoint
Focuses on the relevance it has on the modern
world. Many contemporary artworks are centred around modern issues,
and emerging art theories and innovative practices.
