Female Athlete Triad
A syndrome characterized by disordered eating, menstrual dysfunction, and low bone mineral density among female athletes.
Disordered Eating
Unhealthy eating habits, which may include anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders some athletes may experience.
Osteoporosis
A condition where bones become weak and brittle, leading to an increased risk of fractures; often associated with low bone mineral density.
Menstrual Dysfunction
Irregularities in the menstrual cycle, including oligomenorrhea and amenorrhea, that may affect female athletes.
Low Energy Availability
A state where the energy intake is insufficient to meet the demands of exercise and other body functions.
Eumenorrhea
The normal menstrual cycle occurring regularly without irregularities.
Functional Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
Amenorrhea caused by factors such as excessive exercise or insufficient energy availability, affecting hormonal function.
Bone Mineral Density (BMD)
A measurement of the amount of mineral in bones, important for assessing bone health and risk of fractures.
Muscle Dysmorphia
