rational choice

Begin with the assumptions about actors who deliberately to maximize their advantage. begin at the individual level and culminate questions about collective actions, choices and institutions. maximize the ability to to provide universal laws.

cultural approach

focus on the detailed understanding of particular cases (try to understand the systems of meaning and values) do not make generalizations, and believe each case is different.

structural approach

examine the political and social institutions. look at how the state and society interact and how society is structured (the relationship between actors/classes)
