Hyperfunction
A condition in which there is too much secretion of a hormone.
Hypofunction
A condition in which there is too little secretion of a hormone.
Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH)
A condition characterized by excessive release of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) leading to water retention and dilutional hyponatremia.
Diabetes insipidus
A disorder characterized by insufficient secretion of ADH, leading to excessive urination and thirst.
Hyperpituitarism
A condition caused by hypersecretion of one or more hormones from the pituitary gland.
Acromegaly
A disorder resulting from excess growth hormone (GH) in adulthood, leading to enlargement of bones and tissues.
Cushing syndrome
A condition resulting from chronic high cortisol levels, causing various metabolic disturbances.
Hypothyroidism
A condition resulting from insufficient production of thyroid hormones.
Hyperthyroidism
A condition resulting from excessive levels of thyroid hormones.
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)
A form of diabetes that occurs during pregnancy, characterized by glucose intolerance.
Pheochromocytoma
A tumor of the adrenal medulla that secretes catecholamines, leading to episodes of hypertension and other symptoms.
