Everything in the environment that can be used to satisfy needs, provided it is technologically accessible, economically feasible, and culturally acceptable.
Sustainable Development
Development that should take place without damaging the environment and should not compromise the needs of future generations.
Resource Planning
A strategy for judicious use of resources that ensures equitable distribution and conservation to meet present and future needs.
Land Degradation
The decrease in the quality of land due to human and natural activities, making it unfit for cultivation.
Alluvial Soil
Soil formed by deposition from rivers, rich in nutrients like potash, phosphoric acid, and lime, ideal for agriculture.
Black Soil
Soil known for its moisture retention and rich in minerals like calcium carbonate, ideal for growing cotton.
Red Soil
Soil that develops on crystalline igneous rocks, found in low rainfall areas of the Deccan plateau.
Soil Erosion
The removal of the topsoil layer due to natural forces such as water and wind.
Resource Conservation
Efforts to avoid irrational consumption and overutilization of resources to prevent socio-economic and environmental problems.
Fallow Lands
Land left without cultivation for a certain period to restore its fertility.
