Example 1: a sona. Ah, I see.
Example 2: mi olin a e soweli. I really love animals. (Please note that “a” doesn’t necessarily mean “really”. “a” in this case is emphasizing “olin”, and “really” in this case is emphasizing “love”. “I really love animals” more closely translates to “mi olin mute e soweli”.)


akesi
Example: akesi li moku e pipi. The lizard eats the bug.


ala
Example 1: Mi moku ala e jan ante. I don’t eat other people.
Example 2: Sina moku ala moku e jan ante? Do you or do you not eat other people?


alasa
Example 1: jan li alasa e soweli. The person hunts an animal.
Example 2: mi alasa lape. I try to sleep.


ale/ali
Example 1: ale/ali li pona. Everything is fine.
Example 2: ale/ali li suli mute. The universe is very big.
Example 3: mi moku e kala ale/ali. I eat 100 fish.

anpa
Example 1: pipi li lon anpa kasi. The bug is under a plant.
Example 2: anpa mi li jo e kon jaki. My bottom has yucky air/My bottom smells bad.
