Cerebrum
Largest part of the brain, responsible for high level functions like vision, hearing, touch, reasoning and emotions.
Thalamus
Acts as relay station for information passing or leaving the cortex.
Pineal Gland
A gland that produces melatonin which helps regulates the body’s internal clock and sleep pattern.
Hypothalamus
Control centre for boy’s autonomic functions; including hunger, thirst, sleep and body temperature.
Pituitary Gland
Know as the “Mastery” gland which produces hormones that control other gland and body functions.
Amygdala
Processes emotions, especially those involved in survival like fear and aggression.
Midbrain
Part of the brainstem that controls vision, hearing, motor control and alertness.
Pons
Bridge-like structure located in the brain that helps connects the medulla and the thalamus, relaying messages.
Medulla Oblongata
Lowest part of the brain steam that helps controls involuntary functions such as heartbeat and breathing.
Brainsteam
Collective name for the pons, midbrain and medulla. It helps connect the cerebrum to the spinal cord.
Spinal Cord
Long bundle of nerves that helps send messages from the brain to body structures.
Cerebellum
Located at the back of the brain, helps coordinate muscle movements, maintain posture and balance.
