Inscribed Angle
Angle whose vertex is on a circle and whose sides contain chords of the circle.
Central Angle
Angle whose vertex is the center of the circle.
Diameter
Distance across a circle, through its center.
Proportion
An equation with two equal ratios.
Regular Polygon
Polygon with congruent sides and angles.
Kite
Quadrilateral with 2 pairs of consecutive sides congruent and opposite sides not congruent.
Scale Factor
Ratio of the lengths of two corresponding sides in a similar figure.
Radius
Segment of a circle whose endpoints are the center of a circle and a point on the circle.
Congruent Figures
Two geometric figures that have exactly the same size & shape.
Similar Figures
Two geometric figures with congruent corresponding angles, and corresponding proportional sides.
Convex Polygon
A polygon that does not have any sides "caving in".
Parallel Lines
Lines in a plane that do not intersect.
Skew Lines
Lines not in the same plane that do not intersect.
Isosceles
A triangle (or trapezoid) with at least two congruent sides.
Equilateral Polygon
A polygon with all sides equal.
Postulate
A statement that can be assumed without proof.
Complementary Angles
Two angles whose measures add up to 90∘.
Sine
A trig ratio that is opposite divided by hypotenuse.
Major Arc
Part of a circle that measures between 180∘ and 360∘.
Linear Pair
Two adjacent angles whose measures add up to 180∘.
Cosine
A trig ratio that is adjacent divided by hypotenuse.
Rectangle
A parallelogram with four congruent angles.
