2. e-cigarette (vape, mod, Juul)-

an electronic device that delivers nicotine and

sometimes THC to the user in vaporized form

3. nicotine-

a highly addictive drug found in tobacco

4. tar-

a sticky, thick, dark liquid that forms when tobacco burns

5. formaldehyde

an irritating gas used in adhesives, disinfectants, and preserving

dead tissue found in burning tobacco

6. cyanide-

a pesticide and deadly poison found in burning tobacco

7. carbon monoxide-

a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas produced when tobacco

burns

8. methanol-

poisonous liquid alcohol that causes blindness

1. alcohol-

a drug made from fermenting fruits/grains; an addictive depressant

2. blackout-

when a person using alcohol remains awake and unaware of their

actions, but with memory loss of events while using

3. pass out-

when a person using alcohol loses consciousness, but later retains

memory of events while using

4. alcoholism-

a chronic disease influenced by genetic, psychosocial, and

environmental factors; often progressive, may cause death

5. cirrhosis-

a serious liver disease caused by excessive alcohol abuse, where liver

cells are damaged and replaced by scar tissue
