groupthink is when individuals in a group feel pressured to agree with the rest of the group.
groupshift is when the group decision is different than what one person would have decided on their own.

tone differences lead to misconceptions because people often mistake a speaker's cultural style for their actual mood or intent. For example, a tone intended to be clear or professional in one culture may be wrongly perceived as aggressive or cold in another. it can cause confusion, lack of trust, lower morale.

its based on an individuals position in a company and their ability to reward or declare formal authority.
