Cholera
Caused by water contaminated with human feces.
Causes severe diarrhea and dehydration.It is primarily spread through contaminated drinking water and poor sanitation practices.
Dysentery
Common in areas with poor sanitation systems. Causes
intestinal inflammation. diarrhea and abdominal pain, and is often caused by bacterial, viral, or parasitic infections. It can lead to severe dehydration if not treated.
Mesothelioma
A type of cancer (lung lining) caused specifically by
inhaling asbestos from old building materials.It typically manifests decades after exposure and can cause chest pain, persistent cough, and difficulty breathing.
Zika Virus
Can be passed from mother to fetus, causing
microcephaly (small heads/brain damage).
West Nile Virus
Transmitted from birds to humans via mosquitoes.
Causes brain inflammation (encephalitis).
Malaria
Common in Sub-Saharan Africa. Climate change is
expanding its range to higher altitudes.
SARS/MERS
Coronaviruses that lead to severe pneumonia. MERS is
often transferred from animals to humans.
Plague
Coronaviruses that lead to severe pneumonia. MERS is
often transferred from animals to humans.
Tuberculosis
Attacks the lungs; spread by breathing in bacteria from
an infected person's cough/sneeze.
