Sea level rise is often mentioned as a consequence of

global warming. How can the concepts of this lesson be

applied to this idea?

Global warming causes the temperature of the planet to

increase. This increase in global temperature causes the ice

and snow to begin to melt at the North and South poles (high

latitudes). This water adds to the water in the oceans and

ocean levels are increased around the globe. Global warming

also causes snow and ice at high altitudes to melt and

creates run off. This run-off adds to water levels locally and

world wide.
