idea of strict separation of political powers
Three branches - executive, legislature, judiciary.
Aim - to enable each branch to check the powers of each other
- prevent emergence of dictatorial government
What is meant by the term “executive agreement?
an agreement between US president and other heads of government.
The are politically binding - treaties are legally binding.
They do not need senate approval unlike treaties (2/3)
Example - 1973 Vietnam peace deal
