Team Composition
Each team consists of six (6) players on the court.
Players rotate in a clockwise direction after winning a rally and gaining the serve.
Teams can have up to six substitutes on the bench.
One specialized player, called the libero, wears a different jersey and plays in the back row only.
Game Objective and Scoring System
The goal is to score points by making the ball land on the opponent’s court or forcing an opponent's error.
The game follows a rally point system, meaning a point is scored on every rally, regardless of who served.
A team must score 25 points (with at least a two-point lead) to win a set.
The match is usually played in a best-of-five sets format. The fifth set (if needed) is played up to 15 points.
Rotations and Player Positions
Players must follow a rotational order before each serve.
There are six positions on the court:
1. Front Left (Outside Hitter)
2. Front Center (Middle Blocker)
3. Front Right (Setter or Opposite Hitter)
4. Back Left (Defensive Specialist)
5. Back Center (Libero or Middle Back)
6. Back Right (Server/Setter)
The server stands behind the end line and serves the ball into play.
Once the ball is in play, players can move freely but must return to their original positions after the rally.
Basic Game Rules
A team is allowed three touches (pass, set, attack) before sending the ball over the net.
The same player cannot hit the ball twice in a row, except after a block.
The ball must not touch the floor within a team’s own court.
A player cannot touch the net or step over the centerline.
The ball must land inside the boundary lines for a point to count.
