Consecutive Odd Integers
Integers that follow one another in sequence where each is 2 units apart from the previous one, and they are not divisible by 2; represented algebraically as x, x+2, and x+4.
Perimeter of a Rectangle
The total distance around a rectangle, calculated as the sum of twice the length and twice the width, or P=2l+2w.
Two-Digit Number Representation
An algebraic expression for a number consisting of two digits where if x is the tens digit and y is the units digit, the value is represented as 10x+y.
Age Word Problems
Algebraic problems involving the comparison of ages of individuals (such as Romel, Darrel, T-soy, or Ivan) across different time periods using variables.
Simple Interest
The amount of money earned or paid for the use of money, calculated using the formula I=Prt, where P is the principal (P10,000), r is the rate (5%), and t is the time in years.
Concentration
The ratio of a specific substance, such as acid or alcohol, to the total volume of the liquid mixture, often expressed as a percentage (e.g., a 30% acid solution).
Opposite Direction Motion
A scenario where two objects, such as trains, move away from the same point in opposite directions; their total distance apart is found by adding the distances each traveled (d1+d2).
Average Speed
The total distance traveled throughout a trip divided by the total time taken, often used for round trips where speeds vary (e.g., 60km/h to B and 40km/h back).
Work Rate
The fraction of a task completed in a unit of time, defined as t1 where t is the total time required to complete the task alone.
Upstream Speed
The effective speed of an object moving against the current, calculated as the speed in still water minus the speed of the current (vstill−vcurrent).
Downstream Speed
The effective speed of an object moving with the current, calculated as the speed in still water plus the speed of the current (vstill+vcurrent).
Clock Angle Problem
A math problem involving the measurement of the degree of the angle between the hands of a clock (90∘) at a specific time between two hours.
Perimeter of a Square
The total length of the boundary of a square with four equal sides (s), calculated using the formula P=4s.
