What is a network?
Computer networking is the process of connecting two or more computing devices to enable the transmission and exchange of information and resources.
Network management- User accounts
In network management, a user account is a unique identity assigned to a person or device that allows them to access network resources securely.
Network management- Activity logs
In network management, activity logs are records of all actions and events that occur on a network.
Networking Protocols (TCP/IP)
TCP/IP is is a set of communication protocols used to connect devices and transmit data over a network, including the internet. Data is broken into packets, sent across the network, then reassembled at the destination. The IP handles addressing and routing and the TCP ensures reliable delivery.
Network Architecture: Ethernet
Ethernet is a widely used wired networking technology that connects devices within a Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN), providing high-speed, secure, and reliable data transmission.
An Ethernet connection is much more secure than a WiFi connection.
Network Architecture: FDDI
Fiber Distributed Data Interface is a networking standard that uses fiber optic cables to transmit data at high speed over long distances.
Network topology: Star
This is the most popular physical topology used in smaller LANs.
