Recommended by Apostle Paul - "An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs-how he can please the Lord."
Celibacy amongst priests has been the tradition for centuries. Roman Catholic services occur very frequently and it might be unfair on his family if he had one.
It safeguards the priest against the risk of divorce
Advantages of clergy marrying
Married clergymen might be more relatable to married members of the congregation.
Many Protestant clergymen are married and fulfil their role.
There is a worrying shortage of priests in the Roman Catholic Church and some think the vow of celibacy deters young people. If priests had sons, they might want to follow in their father's footsteps.

Which verse in Matthew can be used to argue that you cannot justify killing a murderer as a punishment?
'But now I tell you, do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you.'
5 arguements for capital punishment
It protects society from evil people.
It is the ultimate payback for someone who has committed a horrendous crime.
It is the cheapest and most cost-effective way of dealing with a serious criminal.
It acts as a deterrent to other criminals because the punishment is so severe.
It brings justice and closure to the victims and their family.
5 arguements against capital punishment
It is uncivilised and devalues human life. No one deserves to be sentenced to death, regardless of the crime. Life imprisonment would be a better punishment.
The wrong person could be condemned, and the state would not be able to rectify the mistake.
It is revenge, not justice. Putting the guilty to death does not lessen the grief people have to endure.
The threat of being caught is only a deterrent in a planned crime; however, many murders are not premeditated.
Capital punishment removes the chance of rehabilitation for the criminal.
Define restorative justice

Money is saved when offenders are not prosecuted and sent to prison
Conflicts in the community can be dealt with before they escalate into crime and communities can play an active role in resolving disputes
Victims may offer forgiveness to offenders
What are the limitations of restorative justice
For restorative justice to work, the offender must admit to the offence and both the victim and offender have to agree to take part.
Some situations might be too challenging for the victim to meet the offender.
Restorative justice needs a co-operative effort by communities and the government, so everybody must be willing to work together for the common good
What is reform
The idea that punishment should try to change criminals so that they will not commit crimes again
What is deterrence
The idea that punishments will be of such nature that they will put people off

Christian teaching im marriage IS realistic
Christianity sets standards that are high, but these should be the ideal for every couple. The Bible emphasises the importance of fidelity in a relationship. Many people would agree that it is wrong to cheat on a partner, so this teaching is still relevant for today.
Marriage is a commitment and with effort put into the relationship, there is no reason why it should not be lifelong. The idea of permanent marriage is not unrealistic.
Christianity teaches that marriage should be built on self-sacrificing love, comparing the love of Christ for the Church as the ideal for couples. Marriages today should still be based on love and respect.
Many marriages do last a lifetime, so there is no reason to assume that marnages today will not be permanent and will end in divorce.
Christian teaching on marriage IS NOT relevant
Divorce is becoming increasingly common so many people would agree that the Christian idea of marriage for life is no longer relevant.
People live a lot longer than in the past. People can change; they may fall out of love and want a second chance at happiness.
For some couples, the pressure of everyday living place too much strain on the marriage. These may include debt, unemployment or coping with the death of a loved one.
The media and society seem to reinforce the idea that the Christian teaching of marriage for life is outdated. Divorce and affairs outside of marriage are often seen as acceptable or inevitable.
