"Good books provide support for the kind of character we hope to see developed in our children."  Consider and explain how books could be used in the classroom, both as prevention for discipline and for correction of behavior.

Having books about attitudes or how children should act would be great to read as a class. This allows for students who act out or misbehave to know they are doing wrong, without the teacher having to specifically point them out. Most children love books. Having a reading time, or a reading circle, would be a great way to get students to listen and quiet down. Although books can not directly correct errors, they can help prevent them. As stated, it would be beneficial to have books about characters who do wrong and are punished for their wrongdoing, showing children that if they do the same, punishment will follow.

1. Explain some of the ways the author discussed in Chapter 6 that books can bind families together.

2.  Relate how this might be helpful in a classroom setting.

3.  Share a personal example of a similar occurrence.

1. When reading books together as a family, it can help bring more personal time together away from all the "hustle and bustle" of the world. It also helps remind us when we are older that our parents cared enough to take the time to read to us.

2. Reading books can bind a class together by allowing children to share their creative thoughts and bring more life into the classroom; especially when you are using a book that can have visuals, it makes the kids laugha nd enjoy reading books more.

3. When I was young, I remember reading abook to my brother in my room. It was nice sharing that personal time with my brother. Although when I asked him questions about what we had read, he ran away.
